Report Text adalah teks yang menjelaskan informasi suatu objek yang meliputi penjabaran objek fisik maupun nonfisik dari fakta-fakta ilmiah tentang objek tersebut apa adanya. Tujuan dari report teks yaitu memberikan ragam informasi kepada pembaca pada objek dari teks itu sendiri dan menginformasikan sesuatu yang pada umumnya menggambarkan semua kelas benda yang berupa alam, baik alami maupun buatan.

Unsur Report Text

  • Berupa ragam fakta ilmiah
  • Judul terlihat lebih umum atau tidak mendetil
  • Menggunakan tensis Simple Present Tense
  • Biasanya menggunakan kalimat pasif
  • Menggunakan tobe (is, am, are, dll untuk mengklasifikasi atau ciri dari objek tersebut), action verb, adjectives dan verb (have, has, had untuk memberikan gambaran secara detil)
  • Menggunakan proses relasional seperti is, consist of, function as, to be identified as, dll
  • Menggunakan istilah khusus untuk bagian-bagian tertentu seperti bagian tubuh manusia (otak, dll), bagian dari makhluk hidup, maupun benda mati
  • Seringkali disertai dengan foto, diagram, dll untuk penggambaran atau contoh pada judul objek

Generic Structure of Report Text

  • General Classification

Merupakan bagian yang berisi pernyataan umum yang menjelaskan keterangan objek dari report teks itu sendiri.

  • Description

Merupakan yang berisi gambaran fenomena atau situasi yang terjadi berupa bagian, sifat maupun kebiasaan atau tingkah laku.

Mengingat report teks bukan merupakan teks berita, tetapi teks faktual ilmiah.

Elephant

An elephant is the largest and strongest of all animals. It is a strange looking animal which it has thick legs, huge sides and backs, large hanging ears, a small tail, little eyes, long white tusks and above all, elephant has a long nose, the trunk.

An elephant is commonly seen in a zoo, it has hard found in it natural habitat. The trunk is the elephant’s peculiar feature. This trunk has various usages. The elephant draws up water by its trunk and can squirt the water all over its body like a shower bath. The elephant’s trunk also lift leaves and put them into its mouth. In fact, the trunk serves the elephant as long arm and hand. An elephant looks very clumsy and heavy and yet an elephant can move very quickly. The elephant is very intelligent animal. Its intelligence combined with its great strength makes an elephant a very useful servant to man. Elephant can be trained to serve in various ways such as carry heavy loads, hunt for tigers and even fight. An elephant is really a smart animal.

Gajah

Gajah merupakan hewan terbesar serta terkuat dari seluruh jenis hewan. Ia merupakan hewan yang unik dimana mempunyai kaki yang tebal, sisi serta punggung yang besar, telinga yang menggantung besar, ekor kecil, mata kecil, taring putih panjang dan yang paling penting gajah ini mempunyai hidung yang panjang, atau belalai.

Gajah ini bisa kita lihat di dalam kebun binatang, serta akan sulit ditemukan pada habitat aslinya. Belalai ini merupakan ciri khas dari gajah. Belalai ini mempunyai beberapa fungsi. Gajah mengambil air dari belalai nya serta bisa menyemprotkan air ke semua permukaan tubuhnya seperti sedang mandi. Belalai gajah juga mengambil daun serta memasukkan nya ke dalam mulutnya. Bahkan, belalai ini juga dapat digunakan gajah sebagai lengan serta tangan yang panjang. Seekor gajah nampak sangat berat, tetapi gajah ini bisa bergerak dengan sangat cepat. Gajah merupakan hewan yang sangat cerdas. Kecerdasannya dipadukan dengan kekuatannya yang besar sehingga membuatnya menjadi pelayan yang sangat bermanfaat untuk manusia. Gajah bisa dilatih untuk melayani dalam berbagai cara seperti membawa barang–barang berat, berburu harimau, bahkan bertarung. Seekor gajah benar -benar hewan yang sangat cerdas.

Scintists believe that people inherit their affection for the scent of rain from ancestors who relied on rainly weather. Therefore, what makes rain smell so nice? There are several scents associated with rainfall that people find pleasing. One of these odours is called ‘petrichor’.
Several plants secrete volatile oils during dry periods. These oils are the compound of chemichal organics. It makes the oils are the compound of chemichal organics. Another scent associated with rain is ozone. During a thunderstorm, lightning can split the oxygen and nitrogen molecules in the atmosphere. They can recombine into nitrate oxide in turn. This substance interacts with other chemicals in the atmosphere to form ozone. It has a sharp smell faintly reminiscent of chlorine.
It is possible for people to say that they can smell rain coming. The wind from an approaching storm has carried ozone down from the clouds into the people nostrils.
